The South Gym in the Arena is also getting some help in the form of air conditioning.
It currently has no air conditioning, just a series of large fans that blow the air around.
The Sycamore volleyball team plays there, along with many classes and intramural teams.
Athletic director Ron Prettyman said that at the first home volleyball match (on Sept. 2 against Eastern Illinois), there were originally 500 people in the stands to watch the Sycamores, but after the second game, there were only about 150 left because it was about 100 degrees in the gym.
Because the air is stagnant in there for the most part, it gets muggier as more people are in it.
