ISU students are now able to be part of a full drag-racing team with the creation of the Team Sycamore Racing organization. The organization will include all aspects of running a National Hot Rod Association team from marketing to finance and finding a sponsor. The NHRA is a circuit for drag racing. Sophomore automotive technology management and business administration major Kyle Neisen created the organization to complement the motorsports management minor. Its purpose is to provide students a way to gain experience in the field. Neisen has been around racing his whole life. In high school, he created a Supermileage racing team, which received national recognition. The motorsports management minor was implemented at Indiana State this spring. Team Sycamore Racing has teamed with General Motors to build a National Hot Rod Association team. General Motors has provided the organization with Ecotec engines, which go in many smaller GM cars; Neisen called them "versatile." Any ISU student is allowed to join Team Sycamore Racing. Neisen welcomes any student who is interested in motorsports or who just wants to learn about the sport of racing and what goes on behind the scenes.
