An ISU student who has ventured into the realm of adult film production recently received some media attention for his efforts. Shelton Coates, a freshman from Washington, D.C., said he was interviewed Oct. 29 by a radio station from the Boston area. Coates is planning to film an adult film entitled "Dorm Room Fantasies" in his dorm room. Local TV station WTHI interviewed him on Friday, Coates said. Coates said Tuesday that he is in the process of getting the proper permit to film the movie. Residential Life Director Mary Linn has expressed her belief in the past that a pornographic movie should not be filmed in a dormitory. Coates encountered difficulties with Residential Life for his production, after illegally posting fliers around campus soliciting actresses for the movie. He has not since had any problems with Residential Life, Coates said. Coates said he has lined up the actresses for the movie and that now it is simply a matter of getting the proper permits to film. "I've got the naked bodies," he said.

I am very disappointed that ISU administrators don't have the courage and leadership to do something about this.
