ISU faculty and graduate students will be conducting a hands-on learning opportunity for high school art students this Saturday at ISU. The art department will be presenting "Art Day 2006" which consists of all day workshops for high school junior and senior art students. Stephen Smithers, associate professor will be the host for the day. Smithers said, "This is a hands on workshop. The students will be making art all day." "The art department uses Art Day as a means to attract students into the art department after they have graduated high school," Smithers said. Art Day consists of eight workshops in the morning and eight workshops in the afternoon. Those who planned on attending "Art Day 2006" had to have completed and turned in their registration forms by Oct. 1. "Art Day 2006" is open to the first 150 students who register. It will kick off with a welcome session in the Center for Performing and Fine Arts at the corner of Chestnut and Seventh Streets.
