New school year brings new faces to ISU

The new school year at ISU is bringing many new changes to campus, including new faces in the staff.

Jay Gatrell has been chosen as the new dean of graduate studies.

He has been a member of the ISU faculty since 2000, previously acting as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and an associate professor in geography and women's studies. Gatrell earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Eastern Michigan University, his master's in geography from the University of Toledo and his Ph.D. in geography from West Virginia University.

Kim Donat was selected as the director of student financial aid. He previously worked as the director of financial aid at Delta College and the assistant director of admissions at Iowa Lakes Community College. Donat received his bachelor's degree from Northwestern College in Iowa and his master's from Iowa State.

Jacques Fuqua is the new director of international affairs. Prior to arriving at ISU, he was the director of international engagement at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since 2005 and also spent five years as the associate director of the East Asian Studies Center at Indiana University. Fuqua earned his bachelor's degree in business administration at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, and his master's in east Asian studies at Indiana University.

Nolan Davis has been selected as the director of student activities and organizations. He has previously acted as the assistant director of residential life, assistant vice president of student affairs, and an assistant to the president, all at Northern Illinois University.
