Columnist's opinion crosses the line

I would like to comment on the opinion columnists this semester.

Philip Pluta's articles are a pleasure to read because he offers a well-written view on political issues. I may not always personally agree with everything he writes, but his articles are open-minded, logical and thought-provoking.

It is unfortunate that Chris Thomas' column is such a sharp contrast.  His last article, "Interactive Poll," was not only insensitive, it was downright offensive.

To say that everyone who voted for McCain deserves a smack in the face is ridiculous.

Not only is McCain a pretty moderate Republican, he is especially so on the issue of immigration, the topic of Mr. Thomas' column!

Belittling everyone who voted for McCain is exactly what Mr. Thomas advocated against in his column--prejudice.

I was extremely disappointed to read this column in the Statesman and can only hope Mr. Thomas can learn to communicate his ideas without insulting and belittling over 58 million people.
