So let me ask you a question. How do you feel about immigration?
I feel, after generations and generations, we've apparently lost our sympathy towards those seeking a better, brighter day here in our beloved country. The debate going on at the moment about Arizona's new immigration law, SB1070, is a prime example. Or the (so I don't publicly say hill billy)"sons of the soil" fundamentalists arming themselves with guns and night vision goggles down in Texas are another woefully hilarious example.
Laughing at fanatics is always appropriate. Yet we should not jest, although even President Obama makes jokes about this situation while at a correspondents' dinner, saying " …Well we all know what happens in Arizona when you don't have I.D…(crowd laughs)…Adios Amigos!"
This is a serious issue, and good, hard working families from all over the globe and in every city are at risk when we allow our lawmakers to legalize and perpetuate prejudice and stereotypes and attempt to foolishly slow the assimilation process that needs to come. I will even go further and say that it will be the generations who are to follow this pitiful freak show that we will most assuredly leave in smog and shambles, that mundialization is their saving grace. I jovially tell you this as well: progress and togetherness in all areas of reason are our societal antidote's most crucial ingredients. They are each the snarled teeth that distend from the key that is to unlock the much-needed harmony between all regions and all peoples.
I will not bore you with statistics, which there is no lack of, I promise you, but despite population increase, the particular crimes that the governor is attributing to those most targeted by the bill are actually on the decline in Arizona. Here is an anonymous quote: "Fascists who think America should resemble their homeowners association, instead of the original intentions of the founding fathers, who endorsed a more proletariat based society, SHOULD build their walls. And once all four are nice and sound…fill them in with water."(Now, I think that is extremely harsh. Water is way too precious to be wasting it on Fascists.)
I would like us all now to get to our interactive poll. Shall we? Raise your hand if you voted for McCain. Keep ‘em up. Now raise a hand, if you have not already, if you would vote for Palin in ‘12(or anyone endorsed by the two). And lastly, if you think globalization or mundialization, or the term "world citizen," are not political terms but are seemingly something torn from "Brave New World"…raise your un-calloused hand.
Those of you with your hands in the air, please, with as much speed and accuracy as you can possibly muster, smack yourself in the face.
