Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, and Prince were just a few of the many appearances for the BET Awards show this year. The show included a ton of different performances, nominees, and legendary celebrities who are a favorite across the globe.

Damon Wayans was the host of the show this year. Wayans, known to many as Major Payne, has been an awards presenter as well as a recipient but had never hosted the BET Awards until this year.

The show provided several categories that were selected and voted by fans. For example a few categories were: best male R&B, best female R&B, best group, viewers choice, best video, best male hip-hop, and best female hip-hop.

Missy Elliott started the show off just right by winning the best female hip-hop award. She wasn't available to accept the award but presenter Janet Jackson made sure she would receive it. Nominees for the category included Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Shawna and Trina.

One award that the fans went wild for was the Best new artist award which was given to 17 year old Chris Brown. Brown has had three top hits and is still going for more. It's been rumored by many that he may be the next Usher from the way he can sing and dance. Other artists who were nominated were Chamillionaire, Ne-Yo, Rihanna and Paul Wall.

Best male R&B nominees included Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Anthony Hamilton and Jamie Foxx, but Prince took the category and was extremely happy and shocked.

"It feels good to be back," Prince said.

Best male hip-hop followed soon after with nominees 50 cent, Busta Rhymes, Common and Kanye West but fans voted for T.I. to take this award home. Earlier in the show he also had a huge performance with help from Lil Wayne.

The nominees for best female R & B included Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Keyshia Cole and India Arie. Mary J Blige took over the category as well as the night with her performance earlier in the show.
