Theft considered most frequent crime, students reminded to secure valuables

To many college students, it seems as if every day is just another battle to secure what belongs to them. It seems there is always another unfortunate soul who has "misplaced" his iPod or is missing money from his wallet. As unfortunate as this is, rarely is the student reimbursed or the culprit found.

The fifth annual Library Extravaganza was yet another success this year with an estimated 5,000 ISU students and faculty in attendance."We have had 500 people walk through since 10 a.m. and it's only 11 a.m.," said Donna Wilson, marketing director for ISU dining services who was passing out treats at the event.

If he has his way, one day in the future Arinze Oruche will be a household name. Oruche, a senior marketing major, says his goal is to one day be the black Howard Stern. At 4:19 p.m. Thursday afternoon, ISU's women's basketball team was having a normal practice in the South Gym in the Arena, working on individual drills like ball handling. A minute later, the fire alarm started blaring."We thought it was just a drill," said sophomore guard and psychology major Kelsey Luna.
Activities fair encourages students to get involved

Students itching to get involved in both the school and community found a remedy in the Student Organization and Activities Fair Wednesday. The Organization and Activities Fair gave ISU students an opportunity to explore the variety of extracurricular activities offered.

People think of college parties as getting free food, having fun with friends and drinking alcohol. Intervarsity Christian Fellowship campus ministry brought everything but the alcohol to their first Un-Kegger party.Paul Bertsch, The Area Director of Southern Indiana for Intervarsity said, "This event was put on so the students here could have a good time in a fun, safe environment.

The first meeting of the year for the Indiana State Student Government Association was on Wednesday evening. After a quick roll call of senators and speaking seats, A.J. Patton, President of SGA, gave his executive report. In his brief statement he addressed many topics of interest and concern to students.
