Before I say anything, I want to let it be known I'm not a big drinker. Although I do like to enjoy an appletini now and then, drinking really isn't that much fun.I recognize, however, that drinking is a lot of fun to a lot of people, and I think that's great.
It feels very strange to be writing this column. I have one left, and after that, I turn the Opinions page over to my successor.My last semester at ISU, and the Statesman, is rapidly drawing to a close, and it seems to have passed me in a hurry. This is only the second semester I haven't taken 18 hours, and the fact that three of my four classes were independent studies in one form or another means I was somehow able to lose track of the normal variations in the amount of work I had to do over the course of the semester.

The turning on of the fountain yesterday signified the true transition to spring on campus.After weeks of speculation as to when the fountain would be making its triumphant return, the initial geyser-esque spray was a welcome sight.The enthusiasm that always accompanies the turning on of the fountain after winter may seem silly, but after what feels like months of traversing the tundra to get to and from class, the fountain has become an institution of warm weather.
