Tennis teams show improvement in tournaments

The Sycamore men and women's tennis teams were in action this weekend as they competed in the Ball State Invitational Hoosier Classic. Sycamore junior Sofya Lifanova picked up a couple of wins as she defeated freshman Jordan Zachary of Mississippi State 6-3, 6-1 on Friday.

Once again, the Indiana State Sycamores lost a humbling blowout Saturday to the Illinois State Redbirds 57-6 in the first Missouri Valley Conference game for either team.

Middle of the pack finish for Sycamores at Notre Dame

Both Sycamore cross country teams finished in the middle of big packs at Notre Dame on Friday. Among the 23 teams, the women's cross country team finished in ninth place, tying with Indiana University Purdue Univerity Fort Wayne. The men's team finished 19th place.

Sycamores suffer tough loss to IUPUI after 82 scoreless minutes

In a match that was played evenly throughout, it was the Indiana State Sycamores who made the first mistake, allowing the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Jaguars (6-5 overall, 2-1 Summit) to take the lead and win the game 1-0. The only goal came in the 83rd minute when freshman defender Missy Journot received a yellow card for a foul at the top of the 18-yard box.

Despite having win in hand, Sycamores lose to Bears and then to Shockers

Halloween may have just come four weeks early for the Sycamores when what seemed like another victory quickly turned into a nightmare. Friday's match against the Bears of Missouri State University couldn't have gotten off to a better start for the Sycamores, who looked to be well on their way to their most impressive conference victory in recent history.
