Lot Q, previously Lot 18, behind the College of Business opened on Monday to not just students, but also staff.

Some students are angered about this new change and believe it is not fair to students.

Sophomore elementary education major La'Teasa Cannon believes that students have a hard time parking already and changing Lot 18 to Lot Q is making things worse.

"I don't believe faculty should have another place to park," Cannon said. "They have enough places to park on the campus already. I do not think there are as many faculty members as there are students. Students do complain about convenience and it is a problem, but there still is a lack of parking regardless of convenience or not."

Some students believe that the parking is not an issue and do not care about how Lot Q is set up now.

Although some students think this change is unfair, ISU Public Safety believes the change was needed.

Assistant Director of Parking and Traffic Lori Elkins said that the change was made according to necessity.

"Lot 18 was a student lot," Elkins said. "Since the College of Education has moved to University Hall, not as many students park there. The lot is now Lot Q, which is a decal lot, and it allows better access for students and staff. As long as they have the proper permit, either faculty or students can park there."

Sophomore language studies major Courtney Underly believes that there is already a lack of parking and it is costly for students.

"Students should have more parking spots because we get expensive tickets all the time and some of us may not have jobs to pay for them," Underly said. "Students are just as important as teachers are and I think we deserve the same rights as staff."
