Monday ends Indiana voter registration

Today is the deadline for Indiana residents to register to vote, and the increased interest in this year's presidential election has led to a surge of new voters.

Over 50 people have registered at the Vigo County Republican Headquarters, 7 S. Sixth St., this election cycle, said coordinator Jack Shipman.

Spectators and re-enactors alike were in the 1940s- and World War II-era mood last weekend for the first annual Victory Days World War II commemoration. People crowded Terre Haute International Airport Friday, Saturday and Sunday to see World War II battles re-enacted and genuine World War memorabilia, including several "warbirds" on ground and in flight, and to hear veterans tell their stories.

Res Life works to educate ISU about diversity

BEADs were handed out on Friday to support National Coming Out Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Safety pins with pink and rainbow colored beads were passed out among ISU students to raise awareness for both of these causes, (BEADs- Becoming Educated About Diversity).

Both Sycamore cross country teams finished in the middle of big packs at Notre Dame on Friday.

Among the 23 teams, the women's cross country team finished in ninth place, tying with Indiana University Purdue Univerity Fort Wayne. The men's team finished 19th place.

ISU, Terre Haute race for a cure Saturday

From parades to races to decorated Port-A-Potties, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure had many activities urging people to be aware of breast cancer.

In attendance was Peggy Balensuela, ISU music professor and two-time cancer survivor.

Balensuela has been racing for the cure and doing other such events for 10 years.
