This past week, junior goalkeeper Emily Lahay was named the Missouri Valley Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for her work in goal last week.

On Aug. 27, Lahay stopped a crucial penalty kick against Butler in the first ten minutes of the game that helped ISU defeat the Bulldogs 1-0 in Indianapolis for their first win of the season.

Then, on August 29, the junior from Sullivan, Ind. and the Sycamores defeated the IPFW Mastodons in convincing fashion by a final score of 2-0.

The shutout wins are Lahay's fifth and sixth of her career.

With these six clean sheets, Lahay is tied for third on ISU's career list for shutout victories. Rachel Rudzis (2004-2007) currently holds the record with eleven clean-sheets.

This is the first Player of the Week award for the Sycamores this season. Last season, four Sycamore soccer players received the award, which ties a school record.

On Sunday, the Sycamores host the Eastern Illinois Panthers at Memorial Stadium.

The Panthers are 2-2 on the season with victories over IUPUI and Evansville.

Last year, the Sycamore and Panthers finished the game in a 1-1 draw, but in 2008, the Sycamores defeated EIU 1-0 in a thrilling overtime victory.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday at Memorial Stadium.
