The Sycamore baseball team (27-12, 6-5) scored the second-most runs they have scored all season in a 17-4 shellacking of the Hoosiers of Indiana Wednesday.

The Sycamores started things off early, putting up four runs in the first inning, three of them coming off of an early Hoosier throwing error.

The Hoosiers scored twice in the second inning, but the Sycamores showed to be too much as they scored seven runs, two in the fourth and five in the sixth, before the Hoosiers could score again in the seventh with two runs.

That was all the Hoosiers had in the tank, but the Sycamores were not through, putting up two runs in the eighth and capping the day off with four more runs in the ninth to seal a 17-4 victory, adding to the best overall record in the MVC.

The fourth place Sycamores are in action again this weekend as they come home for their final three games at Bob Warn Field, when they will face the Missouri State Bears (17-22, 3-6).

The Sycamores, who are on a two-game winning streak, will look to gain some serious ground in the MVC standings, as they can potentially move into second place with a series win.

The schedule of events for the weekend includes the official dedication ceremony of Bob Warn Field  Saturday and Senior Day on Sunday.

The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Bob Warn Field. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio AM 1130 and 1300.
